Experience, knowledge, sustainability
Somerset Forestry was started in 2007 by our Director, Darren Herrington. After building up many years experience with other companies, Darren wanted to use his experience and expertise to build his own business. We now have a reputation within forestry services for being able to take on any size job efficiently and sustainable, using our wide range of equipment. We work with a wide rang of companies including Avon Wildlife Trust and Woodland Trust.
Our woodlands are more important than ever and have a massive part to play in climate change. We feel it is our duty as Foresters to manage them properly with a long term plan.
The lifeblood of any forest and woodland ecosystem is managed over time with a continual regeneration. Sustainable forest management involves managing this regeneration cycle without loss. In our British forests, harvesting timber is an essential part of the regeneration cycle as it makes space for regrowth and develops robust, healthy and diverse forest areas. Part of our working policy is to produce sustainable firewood with the resulting timber from any wood we harvest. It’s a circle of life that we are proud of.
Please see here for our sustainable firewood. We also plant 2000-3000 trees or hedge plants every year.
